“Cinderella – The Voice of the Kingdom", the show that has been playing to full houses since its premiere, returns in the new season of the Ambassador Musical Theater!
Who hasn't heard of "Cinderella"? Who doesn't know the story of the poor and kind-hearted girl named Cinderella, who is treated cruelly by her stepmother and stepsisters? Despite the unfair treatment, the girl in the story remains gentle and wise. Through the help of a good fairy and a magical ball, Cinderella gets a chance to fulfill her dream of attending the royal ball, where she meets the prince and falls in love with him. However, at midnight, she flees and loses her glass slipper, which becomes the clue with which the prince finds her. After an extensive search, he identifies Cinderella and offers her the slipper to try on, and the story concludes happily with their marriage.
“Cinderella – The Voice of the Kingdom" is a show about finding one's voice/calling/vocation and following it, regardless of the obstacles that may arise. It is a show about music, about working hard, about being talented, and about seizing the opportunity to fulfill your dream. Ella, a shy and withdrawn girl from modern times, is a sensitive soul who can only express herself through song, giving voice to her true personality, and when she is on stage, she shines. The protagonist wishes to participate in the casting for the premiere of “Cinderella" at her high school. The roles of the stepsisters Grizella and Anastasia are played by two actors to achieve a comedic, satirical, and caricature effect of the nasty, un-feminine sisters who lack musical talent. Their portrayal contrasts with Ella's sensitivity and gentleness.
Her dream is to have her voice heard, to be a complete artist: to sing, to dance, to be like the heroines of the childhood stories her mother used to read to her when she was little. Ella is not just a simple character dreaming of being a princess; she also wishes to develop and express her artistic talent in its fullness, including singing and dancing. The place where Ella feels most comfortable is a virgin, atypical, intriguing space: the attic of her house. There, alongside childhood toys (Little Mouse, Gus Gus, and Coco Chesse, her friends and the birds in the attic), she often rereads childhood stories, and this time she will put on a show. Whenever she needs to be alone with her dream, she goes to this place, a portal to the past, to the beginning of beginnings, where Ella often performs and tells her mother about every progress, every desire, and what she has achieved for her dream. Singing for her is a comfort, a motivating force, a way to overcome life's obstacles with optimism, and a promise to her mother to make her talent known. For Ella, the story of Cinderella is not just about finding love or a prince. It's about finding her voice, following her passion, and believing that anything is possible when you have the courage to believe in your dreams.
“Cinderella" is a production of the Ambassador Musical Theater, the only children's and youth theater under the Ministry of Culture, which this year celebrates its 5th anniversary.
