On Sunday, December 15, at the Sala Consiliului Județean Buzău, we will be enchanted by “A Jazzy Christmas Night” which will include a program dedicated to Christmas with a selection of the most beloved seasonal musical pieces and carols from the national and international repertoire aiming to bring the magic of the winter holidays into the hearts of the audience through rhythms and jazz, pop, soul, funk, and gospel chords orchestrated in an original manner by pianist and composer Sorin Zlat.
Groove Garden by Sorin Zlat is a jazz-funk project, initiated by pianist Sorin Zlat, bringing together experienced and well-known musicians on the Romanian and international jazz scene. The styles the group embraces are: Gospel, Funk, R&B, Soul, Fusion, Electro, with a repertoire consisting of reorchestrated songs from famous artists such as: Gregory Porter, Earth Wind And Fire, Stevie Wonder, Lalah Hathaway, as well as original compositions.

A special note of the concert will be given by the presence of soprano Mihaela Alexa, a distinct voice on the jazz scene in Romania.

The founder of the band, Sorin Zlat, has in his record over 20 national and international awards. Some notable achievements include: The Grand Prize at the Jacksonville Jazz Piano Competition (The Great American Jazz Piano Competition), one of the most prestigious jazz competitions in the USA. It is the first time in the competition's over 30-year history that a non-American musician wins this prize. The Grand Prize at the Montreux Jazz Festival, The Grand Prize at the Monaco Jazz Festival, The Grand Prize at Europafest. In 2021, the artist received the highest distinction offered by the Yamaha company to a musician, the title of Yamaha Artist. This success was followed by invitations to the USA, Europe, and Asia where the pianist performed on the same stage alongside big names such as: Chick Corea, Arturo Sandoval, Wynton Marsalis, Gregory Porter, Lalah Hathaway, Kamasi Washington, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Branford Marsalis, Jazmeia Horn, and many others. Thanks to the awards and performances he has achieved, Sorin has managed to propel the Groove Garden project to some of the most important festivals both domestically and abroad.
