The "Oleg Danovski" National Opera and Ballet Theatre Constanța invites the public to "Tosca"

The "Oleg Danovski" National Opera and Ballet Theatre Constanța continues the 2026–2027 season with one of the most intense and appreciated masterpieces of the universal lyric repertoire: "Tosca" by Giacomo Puccini.

The show will take place on Saturday, November 14, 2026, starting at 18:30, on the stage of "Regina Maria" National College of Arts in Constanța, in a performance where love, jealousy, power, and sacrifice meet in a dramatic story of extraordinary strength.

In "Tosca", love is confronted with the abuse of power, and the characters' choices are decisive when every moment can change a destiny.

The action of the opera takes place in Rome in 1800 and follows the story of the soprano Floria Tosca, the painter Mario Cavaradossi, and Baron Scarpia, in a triangle dominated by passion, jealousy, and manipulation. Puccini builds an atmosphere of continuous tension through music, in which the characters' feelings are amplified by an orchestra of remarkable expressiveness.

The score by Giacomo Puccini is one of the most famous creations in the operatic repertoire, bringing together pages that have become emblematic, such as "Vissi d'arte" and "E lucevan le stelle," alongside dramatic scenes of great intensity.

At the conductor's podium will be Cristian Sandu – Cluj, who will lead the Orchestra and Choir of the National Opera and Ballet Theatre „Oleg Danovski” Constanța. The cast brings together acclaimed lyrical artists, in a stage production dedicated to one of the most powerful stories in Puccini's repertoire: Nicoleta Ardelean, Răzvan Săraru, Daniel Pop, Cristian Caragea, Mihai Teodoru, Adrian Clinciu, Iulian Bratu, Adrian Pîrlea and Mihaela Ionescu.

The audience is invited to discover a show in which each character is faced with an impossible choice.

By presenting the opera "Tosca", the "Oleg Danovski" National Opera and Ballet Theatre Constanța continues the series of major titles of the 2026–2027 season and reaffirms the importance of universal lyrical repertoire in the cultural life of the city.
