"My Fair Lady" is the story of a simple person who wants to surpass himself, learn, and enjoy life. Equally, it is the story of someone who has the ambition to use his knowledge to shape a human character and equip him with what one must always have at hand: refined and polished speech, an infallible instrument of self-knowledge.

If Pygmalion in antiquity falls in love with his perfect statue, today's Higgins sees his work speaking, singing, dancing, and gets caught up in the ruleless game of love.

In fact, in "My Fair Lady", the two protagonists draw near each other and push away, hate each other and admire, exclude and approach each other in a constant musical back-and-forth. The music accompanies, with its tutelary charm, this rush towards perfection, towards the ideal.
