MY FAIR LADY
October 27, 2024 at 18:00
Musical by Frederick Loewe
National Operetta and Musical Theater "Ion Dacian" Hall
"My Fair Lady" is the story of the simple person who wants to surpass himself, to learn, and enjoy life. Equally, it is the story of the one who has the ambition to use his knowledge to refine a human character and equip it with what a person should always have at hand: a chosen and neat speech, an infallible tool of self-knowledge.
If Pygmalion in antiquity falls in love with his perfect statue, today's Higgins sees his work speaking, singing, dancing, and gets caught up in the ruleless game of love.
In fact, in "My Fair Lady", the two protagonists approach and repel, hate and admire each other, exclude and approach in a constant, musical back-and-forth. Music accompanies, with its charming guidance, this race towards perfection, towards the ideal.
"We worked with love and dedication alongside the set designer, conductors, choreographer, orchestra, ballet, choir, lighting master, not to mention the soloists, to come as close as possible to everything human in this masterpiece." Ion Caramitru
