„My Fair Lady” is the story of a simple person who wants to surpass himself, to learn, and to enjoy life. At the same time, it is also the story of someone who is ambitious and wants to use his knowledge to shape a human character and equip it with what a person should always have at hand: an elegant and refined speech, an infallible tool for self-knowledge.
If Pygmalion in antiquity falls in love with his perfect statue, today's Higgins sees his work speaking, singing, dancing, and gets caught in the ruleless game of love.
In fact, in „My Fair Lady”, the two protagonists get closer and push away, hate and admire each other, exclude and approach each other in a constant, musical come-and-go. The music accompanies, with its guardian charm, this escape towards perfection, towards the ideal.
