MY FAIR LADY
17 November 2024 at 18:00
Musical by Frederick Loewe
National Operetta and Musical Theatre "Ion Dacian"
"My Fair Lady" is the story of the simple man who wants to surpass himself, to learn and enjoy life. Equally, it is also the story of one who has the ambition to use his knowledge to shape a human character and equip him with what man must always have at hand: refined and careful speech, an infallible tool of self-knowledge.
If Pygmalion in antiquity falls in love with his perfect statue, today's Higgins sees his creation speaking, singing, dancing, and engages in the ruleless game of love.
In fact, in "My Fair Lady," the two protagonists come close and push away, hate and admire each other, exclude and approach each other in a constant, musical back-and-forth. Music accompanies, with its tutelary charm, this rush towards perfection, towards the ideal.
"We worked with love and dedication alongside the set designer, conductors, choreographer, orchestra, ballet, choir, lighting master, not to mention the soloists, to get as close as possible to everything human in this masterpiece." Ion Caramitru
