MY FAIR LADY
November 24, 2024 at 18:00
Musical by Frederick Loewe
Hall of the National Theatre of Operetta and Musical "Ion Dacian"
"My Fair Lady" is the story of the simple man who wants to surpass himself, to learn, and to enjoy life. At the same time, it is also the story of the one who has the ambition to use his knowledge to polish a human character and to endow it with what man should always have at hand: refined and well-maintained speech, an infallible instrument of self-knowledge.
If Pygmalion in antiquity falls in love with his perfect statue, today's Higgins sees his work speaking, singing, dancing, and getting caught in the ruleless game of love.
In fact, in "My Fair Lady", the two protagonists approach and reject each other, hate and admire each other, exclude and approach each other in a permanent, musical back and forth. Music accompanies, with its tutelary charm, this flight towards perfection, towards the ideal.
"We worked with love and dedication alongside the set designer, conductors, choreographer, orchestra, ballet, choir, lighting master, not to mention the soloists, to get as close as possible to everything that is human in this masterpiece." Ion Caramitru
