MY FAIR LADY
December 15, 2024, at 18:00
Musical by Frederick Loewe
National Operetta and Musical Theatre „Ion Dacian” Hall
„My Fair Lady” is the story of a simple person who wants to surpass himself, to learn, and to enjoy life. Equally, it is also the story of someone who has the ambition to use his knowledge to refine a human character and to equip him with what one should always have at hand: an elegant and well-kept speech, an infallible tool of self-knowledge.
If Pygmalion in antiquity fell in love with his perfect statue, today's Higgins sees his creation speaking, singing, dancing, and gets caught up in the rule-free game of love.
In fact, in „My Fair Lady”, the two protagonists come close and repel each other, hate and admire each other, exclude and approach each other in a continuous, back and forth, musical. Music accompanies, with its charming tutelage, this pursuit towards perfection, towards the ideal.
„We have worked with love and dedication together with the scenographer, conductors, choreographer, orchestra, ballet, choir, light master, not to mention the soloists, to come as close as possible to everything that is human in this masterpiece." Ion Caramitru
