A Stormy Night

Director Alexandru Nagy confesses:

With “A Stormy Night,” I can say that I am closing a circle or a cycle of luck-bringing titles because in 2003, on the occasion of Caragiale's year, I staged my first production and my debut in amateur theater at the age of 13, directing my classmates and playing the role of Jupân Dumitrache. Nineteen years later, this production, inspired by the atmosphere of “Peaky Blinders,” brings to the audience some of the most beloved artists and aims to be a bridge between generations. 

Demystified and interpreted in a modern key, at the border between theater and film while keeping Nenea Iancu's text intact, this version allows us to delve deeply into the tangled amorous threads behind the story we all know. But how well do we know it? 

How sure is Jupân Dumitrache blinded by jealousy? What connections still exist between Nenea Nae and Veta? You will find the answers only by completely abandoning yourself to this proposal, spending with us a truly stormy night where surely, everything ends well. It was a real pleasure revisiting this masterpiece in the company of such a select group of actors embodying Caragiale's characters.
