"Cinderella – The Voice of the Kingdom", the show that has been playing to full houses since its premiere, returns in the new season of the Ambassador Musical Theatre!
Who hasn't heard of "Cinderella"? Who doesn't know the story of the poor and kind-hearted girl named Cinderella, who is treated cruelly by her stepmother and stepsisters? Despite the unfair treatment, the young lady in the story remains gentle and wise. Through a kind fairy and a magical ball, Cinderella gets a chance to fulfill her dream of attending the royal ball, where she meets the prince and falls in love with him. However, at midnight, she runs away and loses her glass slipper, which becomes the clue that the prince uses to find her. After many searches, he identifies Cinderella and offers her the slipper to try on, ending the story happily with their marriage.
"Cinderella – The Voice of the Kingdom" is a show about finding one's voice/calling/vocation and following it, regardless of the obstacles that may arise. It is a show about music, about working hard, about being talented, but also about seizing opportunities to fulfill your dream. Ella, a shy and introverted girl of our time, is a sensitive soul who can only express herself through singing, giving voice to her true personality, and when she is on stage, she shines. The protagonist wishes to participate in the casting for the premiere of "Cinderella" in her high school. The roles of the stepsisters Grizella and Anastasia are played by two actors to achieve a comic, satirical, and caricature effect of the nasty sisters, who are not at all feminine and lack musical talent. Their interpretation contrasts with Ella's sensitivity and tenderness.
Her dream is to make her voice heard, to be a complete artist: to sing, to dance, and to be like the heroines of childhood stories her mother read to her when she was little. Ella is not just a character who dreams of being a princess, but she also wants to develop and express her artistic talent in its fullness, including singing and dancing. The place where Ella feels best is a virgin, atypical, intriguing one: the attic. There, along with her childhood toys (Micey, Gus Gus, and Coco Cheese, her friends, and the birds in the attic), she often rereads childhood stories, and this time she will put on a show. Whenever she needs to be alone with her dream, she goes to this place, which is a portal to the past, to the beginning of beginnings, where Ella often performs and tells her mother every progress, every wish, and what she has achieved for her dream. Singing is for her a solace, a motivational force, a way to overcome life's obstacles with optimism, a promise made to her mother to make her talent known. For Ella, Cinderella's story is not just about finding love or a prince. It is about finding her voice, following her passion, and believing that anything is possible when you have the courage to believe in your dreams.
"Cinderella" is a production of the Ambassador Musical Theatre, the only theater for children and youth under the Ministry of Culture, which this year celebrates 5 years since its founding.
