"Cinderella – The Voice of the Kingdom", the show that has been performed to full houses since its premiere, returns for the new season of the Ambassador's Musical Theatre!
Who hasn't heard of "Cinderella"? Who doesn't know the story of the poor and kind-hearted girl named Cinderella, who is treated cruelly by her stepmother and stepsisters? Despite the unfair treatment, the girl in the story remains gentle and wise. Through the help of a good fairy and a magical ball, Cinderella gets a chance to fulfill her dream of attending the royal ball, where she meets the prince and falls in love with him. However, at midnight, she flees and loses her glass slipper, which becomes the clue with which the prince finds her. After many searches, he identifies Cinderella and offers her the slipper to try on, ending the story happily with their marriage.
"Cinderella – The Voice of the Kingdom" is a show about finding one's voice/calling/vocation and following it, regardless of the obstacles that may arise. It is a show about music, hard work, talent, and seizing opportunities to fulfill your dream. Ella, a shy and withdrawn girl in modern times, is sensitive and can only express herself through singing, giving voice to her true personality. When she is on stage, she shines. The protagonist wishes to participate in the casting for the premiere of "Cinderella" at her high school. The roles of the stepsisters Grizella and Anastasia are played by two actors to achieve a comedic, satirical, and caricatured effect of the nasty, unfeminine, and musically untalented sisters. Their interpretation contrasts with Ella's tenderness and sensitivity.
Her dream is to make her voice heard, to be a complete artist: to sing, to dance, to be like the heroines from the childhood stories her mother read to her. Ella is not just a simple character who dreams of being a princess; she wishes to develop and express her artistic talent in its entirety, including singing and dancing. The place where Ella feels most comfortable is a virgin, atypical, intriguing place: the attic. There, alongside her childhood toys (Mousey, Guz Guz, and Coco Cheese, her friends and the birds in the attic), she often re-reads her childhood stories and puts on shows. Whenever she needs to be alone with her dream, she goes to this place, which is a portal to the past, to the beginning of beginnings, where Ella often performs and tells her mother about every progress, every wish, and what she has accomplished for her dream. Singing is for her a comfort, a motivating force, a way to overcome life's obstacles with optimism, a promise made to her mother to make her talent known. For Ella, the Cinderella story is not just about finding love or a prince. It is about finding her voice, following her passion, and believing that anything is possible when you have the courage to believe in your dreams.
"Cinderella" is a production of Ambassador's Musical Theatre, the only children's and youth theater under the Ministry of Culture, which celebrates its 5th anniversary this year.
