The play by Chazz Palminteri, a screenwriter, director, actor, and producer of Italian origin, can be integrated into modern boulevard theatre. It has been successfully performed in other parts of the world, and a film has also been made in which the author acted. It is amusingly written with spectacular theatrical twists, humorous dialogues, and well-crafted characters.
In the relationship of a wealthy couple – Maggie (Adelaida Zamfira) and Jack (Florin Busuioc), which reaches a breaking point, a hired killer, Tony (Gheorghe Ifrim), intervenes, without knowing by whom, and he has his own psychological issues. The action and conflicts are skillfully exposed dramatically with comic flavor. The author proves that he knows how to write comedies with psychological motivation in relationships and subtle allusions to current events.
We meet Gheorghe Ifrim again in a comic role – Tony, played logically to show that the dramatic experience of situations can explosively highlight the purpose of ironic, satirical writing. The excellent actor defines the character, a hired killer, possibly a mobster who has his personal problems and a psychologist as his assistant. Gheorghe Ifrim skillfully expresses the character's states and his relationships with Maggie, resulting in refined and captivating humor, once again demonstrating his special talent for comedy.
Maggie, a woman bored with domestic life but who has provided the necessary funds for her husband's business, is suggestively characterized by Adelaida Zamfira. The actress develops Maggie's ambiguity, especially when she becomes an elegant lady who asserts her desire for adventure and revenge. This is a reference role credibly realized by this talented independent actress.
A pleasant surprise is the appearance of Florin Busuioc in theater. The actor meticulously defines the profile and attitudes of Maggie's unfaithful husband, a businessman. Florin Busuioc convincingly conveys the warning that immorality can be specific, natural to many of the wealthy. The three actors are marvelous in their sincere portrayal of dramatic situations, producing the comedic and satirical purpose of the text, and the humor applauded by the audience.
“Fidelity" is a show from which no one can leave disappointed. From the director, scenographer to the three exceptional performers, “Fidelity" shows us that independent theater consistently activates culturally, without trivial image embellishments, being direct in communicating with humor some “photographs" taken from the reality of our days.
