The play by Chazz Palminteri, a screenwriter, director, actor, and producer of Italian origin, can be integrated into modern boulevard theater. It has been successfully performed in other parts of the world, and a film was made in which the author played, it's amusingly written with spectacular theatrical twists, humorous lines, and well-constructed characters.
In the relationship of a wealthy couple – Maggie (Adelaida Zamfira) and Jack (Florin Busuioc), which has hit a snag, a hired killer, Tony (Gheorghe Ifrim), intervenes with ironic psychological analysis. The action, conflicts, are skilfully dramatically exposed with comic flavor. The author proves that he knows how to write comedies with psychological motivations in relationships and subtle references to current events.
We meet Gheorghe Ifrim again in a comedic role – Tony, interpreted with the logical intention of showing that the dramatic experience of certain situations can explosively highlight the purpose of writing ironically, satirically. The excellent actor defines the character, a hired killer, a possible mafioso who has his own personal issues and a psychologist to help him. Gheorghe Ifrim skillfully expresses the states of the character and his relationships with Maggie, resulting in a refined and charming humor, demonstrating again his special capacities for comedy.
Maggie, the woman bored of domestic life but who brought the necessary funds for her husband's businesses, is suggestively characterized by Adelaida Zamfira. The actress develops Maggie's ambiguity, especially when she becomes an elegant lady who asserts her desire for adventure and revenge. It is a reference role, a credible realization of the character for this talented independent actress.
A pleasant surprise is Florin Busuioc's appearance in the theater. The actor adapts subtly to defining the essence of the unfaithful husband's profile and attitudes, Maggie's business-minded husband. Florin Busuioc credibly conveys the warning that immorality can be specific and natural for many wealthy people. The three are wonderful in the way, by sincerely narrating dramatic situations, they create the humor of the satirical purpose of the text, which is applauded by the audience.
"Fidelity" is a show from which no one can leave disappointed. From the director, set designer to the three exceptional performers, "Fidelity" shows us that independent theater consistently activates culturally, without trivial image sophistication, being directly in comedic communication with "photographs" taken from the current times.
