TACHE, IANKE AND CADAR
November 25, 2024, 7:00 PM
"Teodor Costescu" Palace of Culture, Drobeta Turnu Severin
The text is a delightful comedy in three acts, written in 1932 and staged in the same year at the Maria Ventura Theatre, where it was first presented at Bulandra in 1957 by director N. Al. Toscani. More than six decades after Toscani's staging, Horaţiu Mălăele brings back to the Bulandra Theatre stage the three human typologies, embodying the Jew Ianke and casting Răzvan Vasilescu and Mihai Constantin in the roles of the Turk Cadâr and the Romanian Take.
Alongside the three main performers, the cast will also include: Dana Dogaru, Adrian Ciobanu, Maria Veronica Vârlan, and Matei Constantin. The show's set design was entrusted to Maria Miu.
The play brings to the forefront the life story of the three merchant friends, subtly addressing the issues of race, faith and religion, and individual and group identity status, reminding us that differences are not necessarily a reason for discord. It also shows that good understanding can work on the basis of acceptance and assumption of what defines and differentiates us from others.
