The "Ion Dacian" National Operetta and Musical Theatre is hosting the exhibition "Retrospective," an emotional journey into the creation and life of artist Teudoru-Teofil Doagă, from 7 November to 31 December 2024.
The opening will take place on 7 November, at 19:00, within the Ion Dacian Festival 2024.
Born in 1958 in Asău, Bacău County, Teudoru-Teofil Doagă is a sculptor who has contributed to the Romanian artistic landscape with works that combine tradition with the simplicity of modern forms. A graduate of the Popular School of Art Bacău, Sculpture section, the artist was trained under the guidance of professor Dumitru Huțanu, who introduced him to the secrets of Brancovean and contemporary sculpture.
The "Retrospective" exhibition is a celebration of art and human development. It presents to the public representative works that reflect both Brancusi influences and the artist's own searches and experiences at the age of 66. The central theme of the exhibition is the evolution of emotions and human states, each sculpture being a testament to a period in the artist's life. With a minimalist approach, Doagă conveys the depth of feelings by eliminating physical details, highlighting emotions such as despair, dreaming, happiness, and loneliness.
"Sharing my emotions through these sculptures is an act of courage and vulnerability. Each work reveals a part of me, an experience, a memory. I hope viewers find in them not only my story but also their own states and emotions," declared Teudoru-Teofil Doagă.
Throughout his career, Teudoru-Teofil Doagă's works have reached important collections, both nationally and internationally, being appreciated by personalities such as Ingvar Kamprad, the founder of Ikea, and Nadia Comăneci.
The public is invited to the opening on 7 November, at 19:00, to discover the creative universe of an artist who combines tradition with modernity, offering us a unique perspective on human complexity through sculpture.
