„My Fair Lady” is the story of a simple man who wants to go beyond himself, to learn and enjoy life. It is also the story of someone who has the ambition to use their education to refine a human character and to endow it with what a person must always have at hand: an elegant and careful way of speaking, an infallible instrument of self-knowledge.

If Pygmalion in antiquity falls in love with his perfect statue, today's Higgins sees his creation speaking, singing, dancing, and getting caught in the love's unregulated game.

 In fact, in „My Fair Lady”, the two protagonists approach and repel each other, hate and admire each other, exclude and come closer in a perpetual, musical ebb and flow. The music accompanies, with its protective charm, this pursuit of perfection, of the ideal.
