A charismatic and unique figure, Maxim Belciug is one of the most important Romanian guitarists today. For over 3 decades, he has been tirelessly active in the service of the guitar and music, and his solo career has taken him to all the major stages of the country, as well as abroad (Serbia, Hungary, Poland, Austria, France, Belgium, Scandinavia, Italy, Spain, etc.). He is the only Romanian guitarist to have held 4 consecutive recitals on the stage of the Romanian Athenaeum, each time with exceptional success with the public. He has recorded five solo guitar CDs so far, two in a duo with violin, and two in a voice and guitar format, always being met with enthusiasm by the discerning ear of critics and loved by the public. Fantastic fluency, rare expressiveness, surprising transitions, textures and nuances, sometimes pastel, sometimes brilliant, rhythm, notes of playfulness and an incredible tapestry of emotions, all these are, in Maxim Belciug's case, ingredients that give his music substance, taste, warmth, life. When he has the guitar in his arms, this man dreams from his fingertips, and his dreams are contagious. Perhaps it is the special sound of the guitar, so different from the known timbre of a violin or a piano, or the total mastery of technique, which keeps many instrumentalists captive, but with Maxim Belciug one thing is certain: the guitar cries and loves and dances with one and a thousand voices, like an unreal orchestra that attacks passionately, without caring about the way back.
