MY FAIR LADY
March 2, 2025, at 18:00
Musical by Frederick Loewe
National Operetta and Musical Theatre "Ion Dacian"
"My Fair Lady" is the story of the simple person who wants to overcome, to learn, and to enjoy life. Equally, it is the story of the one who has the ambition to use his knowledge to refine human character and endow it with what a person should always have at hand: refined and careful speech, an infallible instrument of self-knowledge.
If Pygmalion in antiquity falls in love with his perfect statue, today's Higgins sees his work speaking, singing, dancing, and joins the ruleless game of love.
In fact, in "My Fair Lady," the two protagonists come together and repel, hate and admire, exclude and approach each other in a permanent musical to and fro. Music accompanies, with its protective charm, this escape towards perfection, towards the ideal.
We worked with dedication and commitment alongside the set designer, conductors, choreographer, orchestra, ballet, choir, lighting master, not to mention the soloists, to get as close as possible to everything human in this masterpiece." Ion Caramitru
