Alexandra Ușurelu invites for the first time her audience in Bucharest to a special Valentine's concert at Bragadiru Palace, the only palace in the city center enveloped in the nostalgia of aristocratic parties. After her successes on theater and festival stages in Romania, Alexandra proposes for Valentine's an exclusive concert, alongside her collaborators, remarkable names excelling on jazz, musical, or classical music stages, a special production including her much-loved songs about love, as well as unpublished songs.
The voice and personality of Alexandra Ușurelu have outlined for connoisseurs of quality music the profile of a singular artist in Romanian music, whose concerts are not to be missed.
A real success story of independent music in Romania, Alexandra Ușurelu has managed in just a few years to evolve from concerts with a few dozen spectators on club stages to sold-out tours with a band and private orchestra in theater halls across the country, developing a tradition of presenting more developed artistic content year after year, with complex concert productions, comparable to those of the most well-known mainstream artists, on the stages of philharmonics and national theaters, sometimes with multiple sold-out concerts on the same day.
Alexandra has released to date the studio album "La capătul lumii" (2014), the DVD "Simfonic Pur" (2016), filmed live at her first concert at the National Theatre in Bucharest, and the studio album "Fata care chiar există" (2022).
Her first album, "La capătul lumii," was triple-nominated by the Romanian Broadcasting Society during the XIIIth edition of the Radio Romania Music Awards Gala, in the categories "Best Debut," "Best Album," "Best Duet" (for "Ceva se întâmplă cu noi" ft. Mircea Vintilă).
Her collaborations with artists from folk music (Mircea Vintilă, Dinu Olărașu, Mircea Rusu, Narcisa Suciu) or pop (Cornel Ilie/VUNK, Dan Byron etc.) have exposed her music and artistic universe to a diverse and broad audience, and the hundreds of concerts held to date have transformed her into a singular artist in Romanian music, not only because of her style and musical talent but especially for her naturalness and influential lyrics that resonate in the listeners' souls.
For her second album, titled "Fata care chiar există" and released at the beginning of 2022, Alexandra Ușurelu tackled strong themes and subjects, all having modern poetry that surpasses the themes in current pop music, poetry enveloped with fine sounds of classical music, classical jazz or essential folk music sounds, brought back and reinterpreted. The album is recorded with her band composed of remarkable musicians of the jazz scene and with a string orchestra. The integration of a string orchestra in her music began several years ago, the orchestra being not just an extension of grandeur and sound for pop songs, but an integral part of the entire musical concept presented by Alexandra.
The album "Fata care chiar există" offers a synesthetic experience of the senses, not just an impeccable auditory experience. There are songs played for several years in concerts, arranged for band and string orchestra, a very different sound experience from the pop music offer, but easy to understand and desirable for any art consumer who prefers to seek out the music they listen to themselves," says Bobby Stoica, the composer and music producer of the album "Fata care chiar există".
Alexandra Ușurelu is a constant presence in the seasons of the orchestras of cultural institutions but also collaborates successfully with the few private orchestras. In June 2024, she performed her most important concert to date at the Romanian Athenaeum, in the Royal Season, alongside the much-appreciated Bucharest orchestra Camerata Regală, under the baton of conductor Constantin Grigore.
Without gimmicks or aggressive promotional actions, Alexandra Ușurelu has achieved something that may seem, in today's Romania, just a faint hope: to win the appreciation of an educated audience with refined tastes, who prefer to choose the music they listen to themselves and to follow their favorite artists into the concert halls.
