The play by Chazz Palminteri, a screenwriter, director, actor, and producer of Italian origin, can be integrated into modern boulevard theater. It has been successfully performed in other regions, a movie was also made in which the author acted; it is humorously written with spectacular theatrical twists, full of witty lines and well-constructed characters.
In the relationship of a wealthy couple – Maggie (Adelaida Zamfira) and Jack (Florin Busuioc) reached an impact, with irony analyzed psychologically, a hired killer intervenes, Tony (Gheorghe Ifrim), unknown by whom, he also with psychological problems; the action, conflicts, are skillfully dramatically exposed with comic flavor. The author proves that he knows how to write comedies with psychological motivation in relationships and subtle references to current events.
We meet again Gheorghe Ifrim in a role with a comic base – Tony, played with the logical intent of showing that the dramatic experience of some situations can explosively highlight the purpose of the writing ironically, satirically. The excellent actor defines the character, a hired killer, a possible mobster who has his own personal issues and a psychologist as an assistant. Gheorghe Ifrim skillfully measures the expression of the character's states and his relations with Maggie, his interpretation resulting in a refined, captivating humor, once again demonstrating his special abilities for comedy.
Maggie, the woman bored with domestic life but who brought the necessary funds for her husband's business, is suggestively characterized by Adelaida Zamfira. The actress develops Maggie's ambiguity especially when she becomes an elegant lady asserting her desire for adventure and revenge. This is a landmark role, a credible portrayal of the character by this talented independent actress.
A pleasant surprise is the appearance in the theater of Florin Busuioc. The actor adapts with nuance to define the essence of the profile and attitudes of Maggie's unfaithful husband, a businessman. Florin Busuioc convincingly conveys the warning that immorality can be specific, natural and common to many wealthy people. The three are wonderful in how they recount dramatic situations with inner sincerity, producing the satirical purpose of the text and the humor applauded by the audience.
"Loyalty" is a show from which no one can leave disappointed. From the director, designer to the three exceptional performers, "Loyalty" shows us that independent theater consistently activates culturally, without trivial image embellishments, being direct in the communication with humor of some "photographs" taken from the current reality of our days.
