National Theatre "M. Eminescu" Timisoara

The Sibiu Ballet Theatre embarks on a national tour with the phenomenal show "Romeo and Juliet. Rock Story" and arrives in Timisoara, Deva, Oradea .

        Sibiu Ballet Theatre is enthusiastically announcing a new national tour with the contemporary dance performance "Romeo and Juliet. Rock Story". The production, acclaimed by the public for its modern vision and electrifying soundtrack, inspired by the music of the band Queen, will be presented in February 2026 in several cities across the country.

Tour Schedule:

• Timișoara: Tuesday, February 17, 2026, 7:00 PM, at "M. Eminescu" National Theatre.
• Deva: Wednesday, February 18, 2026, 7:00 PM, at "Drăgan Muntean" Cultural Center.
• Oradea: Thursday, February 19, 2026, 7:00 PM, at Trade Union House of Culture.
• Cluj- Napoca: Friday, February 20, 2026, 6:00 PM, at the House of Culture of Students “Dumitru Fărcaș”.

About the show:

In the choreography and scenography signed by the talented Marcello Algeri, "Romeo and Juliet. Rock Story" transposes the Shakespearean tragedy into a vibrant artistic expression, using as a musical background famous rock songs by the band Queen, completed by compositions by Tolga Kashif and Sergei Prokofiev. The show explores the forbidden love between Romeo and Juliet and the conflict between their families, Montague and Capulet, through the force and dynamics of contemporary dance.

The contemporary dance show "Romeo and Juliet. Rock Story", presented by the Sibiu Ballet Theatre, was invited and presented on the stage of the Syracuse International Ballet Festival (Siracusa International Ballet Festival), Italy, in October 2023. 

The performance enjoyed great success from the Italian public, being received with enthusiasm and appreciation. This international participation confirmed the artistic value of the production and brought recognition to the Sibiu Ballet Theatre on a European stage

About the Sibiu Ballet Theatre:

Founded in 2008 at the initiative of director Ovidiu Dragoman, who wanted to create a unique ballet company in Romania, the Sibiu Ballet Theatre is the first dance company in Romania with an international composition.

Its vast repertoire includes famous classical ballet titles, but also contemporary and neoclassical dance productions. Over the years, the company has held successful international tours in countries such as Japan, South Korea and Italy, Germany, Lithuania, consolidating its reputation on the world stage.
