The National Opera and Ballet Theatre "Oleg Danovski" Constanța presents "Traviata" by Giuseppe Verdi

Within the 2026-2027 season, the National Opera and Ballet Theatre "Oleg Danovski" Constanța invites the public to one of the most famous and moving masterpieces of the universal lyrical repertoire: "Traviata" by Giuseppe Verdi.

The show will take place on Saturday, October 31, 2026, starting at 18:30, on the stage of the House of Culture of Trade Unions in Constanța.

Inspired by the novel and play "The Lady of the Camellias" by Alexandre Dumas-son, "Traviata" is one of the operas that have managed to transform a love story into a profound meditation on sacrifice, social prejudices, dignity, and the freedom to love.

At the center of the story is Violetta Valéry, a woman who, despite a life marked by societal conventions, discovers true love alongside Alfredo Germont. Their relationship is, however, tested by prejudices and the rigors of a world where appearances weigh more than feelings.

The music of Giuseppe Verdi, of extraordinary dramatic force and sensitivity, follows every stage of Violetta's destiny, from the brilliance of the first scenes to the tragic end. The opera's arias, duets, and grand choral moments have become landmarks of the universal repertoire and continue to move audiences everywhere.

At the conductor's podium will be Tiberiu Dragoș Oprea, who will lead the Orchestra, Choir, and Ballet of the National Opera and Ballet Theatre "Oleg Danovski" Constanța.

The cast brings together theater artists in a scenic formula that highlights the dramatic intensity and musical depth of Verdi's masterpiece: Laura Eftimie, Răzvan Săraru, Cristian Caragea, Stela Sîrbu, Eugen Florea - debut, Mircea Găvan, Adrian Pîrlea, Iulian, Bratu, Georgiana Medeleanu, Ionuț Neagu.

The realization of the show benefits from the contribution of a dedicated artistic team: Ștefan Vlad Grosu-Munteanu, responsible for adaptation, direction, set design, and light design, Anghel I. Arbore, artistic direction, Cătălin I. Arbore, scenography, and Fănică Lupu-Liești, choreography. The choir master is Adrian Stanache.

Through this new performance, the “Oleg Danovski” National Opera and Ballet Theatre continues the program of the 2026-2027 season, bringing back to the Constanța stage one of the fundamental operas of Giuseppe Verdi's repertoire and of the entire universal lyric heritage.

„Traviata” is, first and foremost, a story about love and sacrifice, a story in which a woman's destiny becomes a symbol of a struggle between feelings and societal conventions, between personal happiness and renunciation in the name of those she loves.
