A sad comedy with Marius Manole, Carmen Tănase, and Maria Obretin. Or a cheerful drama with the same three. “On the other hand” is the latest play written by Lia Bugnar, and it succeeds in taking you from fits of laughter to deep emotion in the blink of an eye. It's a story about the impact that words can have on someone’s life. Words we say casually, without realizing the havoc they can wreak in our souls and how much strength it takes not to let them knock you down. A serious story told in the most comical way possible.
A story for which the audience has no choice but to laugh but also to leave with some questions about themselves and how they treat those around them. Marius Manole, Carmen Tănase, and Maria Obretin, in addition to being three wonderful actors, also have the advantage of being very good friends in real life, which is evident on stage and felt in the way they put their hearts together to offer the most touching, tender, and comedic story to the audience.
Those who saw “What do we have here?” and liked it now have the chance to see the three again, mixed by Lia Bugnar, turned upside down three times, and laid out on stage in a completely different play. For the actors, the fact that the absolute premiere will be abroad and not in Romania makes the entire story all the more delicate, risky, panicky, but also precious. Hoping that both actors and spectators will come away with a pleasant memory, let’s go see “On the other hand”!
