MY FAIR LADY
May 3, 2025 at 18:00
Musical by Frederick Loewe
National Operetta and Musical Theater "Ion Dacian"
"My Fair Lady" is the story of a simple man who wants to surpass himself, to learn, and to enjoy life. It is also the story of someone who has the ambition to use his book knowledge to refine a human character and to equip him with what one must always have at hand: an articulate and cultivated speech, an infallible tool for self-knowledge.
If Pygmalion in antiquity falls in love with his perfect statue, today's Higgins sees his creation speaking, singing, dancing, and getting caught up in the rule-less game of love.
In fact, in "My Fair Lady", the two protagonists approach and repel each other, hate and admire each other, exclude and come together in a perpetual back and forth, musically. The music accompanies, with its protective charm, this flight towards perfection, towards the ideal.
I worked with love and dedication alongside the set designer, conductors, choreographer, orchestra, ballet, choir, lighting master, not to mention the soloists, to get as close as possible to all that is human in this masterpiece." Ion Caramitru
