A sad comedy featuring Marius Manole, Carmen Tănase, and Maria Obretin. Or a cheerful drama with the same three. “On the other hand” is the most recent play written by Lia Bugnar and it manages to take you from laughter to emotion in a heartbeat. A story about the effect that words can have on someone's life. Words we say in passing, without realizing the upheaval they cause in the soul and how much strength it takes not to let them bring you down. A serious story told in the most humorous way possible.
A story where the audience has no choice but to laugh, but also to leave with some questions about themselves and how they treat those around them. Marius Manole, Carmen Tănase, and Maria Obretin, aside from being three wonderful actors, also have the advantage of being very good friends in real life, which is evident on stage and felt in the way they put their hearts together to offer the most touching, tender, and comedic story to the audience.
Anyone who saw “What do we have here?” and liked it now has the chance to see the three again, mixed by Lia Bugnar, turned upside down three times, and spread out again on stage in a completely different performance. For the actors, the fact that the absolute premiere will be abroad and not in Romania makes the whole story even more delicate, risky, panic-inducing, but also precious. With the hope that both actors and audience will leave with a pleasant memory, let’s go see “On the other hand”!
