Italian music concert with tenor Ştefan von Korch, soprano Oana Şerban, and pianist Alexandru Burcă
At the threshold of summer, tenor Ştefan von Korch and soprano Oana Maria Şerban invite you to a concert where romance will flourish: famous musical sequences full of vivacity, passion, and color will transport the audience to the sun-drenched peninsula, evoking the authentic Italian atmosphere but also for an evening that will bring joy and good mood into the hearts.
Ştefan von Korch, the soloist host and artistic coordinator of Musical Extravaganza says: “we invite you to a concert that showcases the complexity and beauty of the Italian repertoire: through famous arias, beloved canzonettas or famous contemporary refrains, we will travel to the homeland of soulful music.”
## ABOUT THE SOLOISTS
** Ştefan von Korch ** – Tenor
With exponential national and international development, Ştefan von Korch began the year on the stage of the Transylvania State Philharmonic, in Carmina Burana, his work "signature," where he debuted last year on the stage of the prestigious Palermo Classica Festival.
Ştefan von Korch concluded 2024 with notable appearances at the National Operetta and Musical Theater "Ion Dacian," at the Palace Hall, and at the Philharmonics in Târgu-Mureş and Timişoara, and he elaborates musical stories monthly in the Musical Extravaganza concert season.
During the past year, he performed on the stage of the Târgu-Mureş Philharmonic the vocal symphonic work Stabat Mater by G. Rossini, considered a demonstration of virtuosity for any tenor and the work Lobgesang by F. Mendelssohn, was invited to the Iaşi Opera in the sparkling role of Camille de Jolidon from The Merry Widow 2.0 directed by Andrei Şerban, and at the Romanian Opera in Timişoara in the production of The Merry Widow signed by Mario Di Carlo.
In 2023, the tenor made the hearts of spectators vibrate with masterful interpretations of the score specific to his voice in Carmina Burana, for which he is considered a benchmark and was the only Romanian soloist in a tour of 27 cities in China. Other milestones in his career include flagship roles in operas and operettas presented on the largest stages in Romania: "The Barber of Seville," "The Elixir of Love," and "Falstaff" (National Opera Bucharest), "Rigoletto," "The Merry Widow," and "The Merry Widow 2.0" (National Opera of Iaşi), "I Puritani" (national premiere), "Rigoletto," and "The Barber of Seville" (Romanian Opera Cluj-Napoca) and many others.
Oana-Maria Şerban – soprano
The talented coloratura soprano has sung in the Gardens of the Palace of Versailles, during the opening of the Paris Olympic Games, performed at Musikverein in Vienna in the role of Dochiţa from the operetta "Crai nou," alongside the National Opera in Bucharest, and made her debut at the National Opera in Bucharest in 2023 in the roles of Olympia from the opera The Tales of Hoffmann, by J. Offenbach, Gilda from the opera Rigoletto by Giuseppe Verdi, and most recently Susanna, from the opera The Marriage of Figaro by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. She is a favorite heroine for children in memorable roles on the stage of the Comic Opera for children, where she has, among others, played Rosina in the opera The Barber of Seville, Clorinda in the opera Cinderella, both by Gioachino Rossini, Norina in the opera Don Pasquale, and Adina, from the opera The Elixir of Love, by Gaetano Donizetti.
About the Musical Extravaganza
The Musical Extravaganza season. The concerts aim to offer the public the joy of meeting representative names of the lyrical stage, in a more intimate setting, providing a different perspective on the artistic act from that on the imposing opera stage, but also to bring the classical genre closer to audiences of all ages. Spectators are invited to admire their favorite soloists in a select atmosphere, complemented by chamber music accompaniment, which highlights the performers in a warm and personal light.
Events are hosted at Dalles Hall, a choice that is not at all trivial. The protagonists of Musical Extravaganza invite the audience into a space with tradition and history in the cultural landscape and step onto the stage where great musicians such as George Enescu (26 concerts), Dinu Lipatti, Mihai Jora, Ionel Perlea, Ion Voicu, or Virginia Zeani have performed over time.
